Treacherous Roadways Cause Vehicle To Propel Into Creek Friday (VIDEO)

A car ended up in “hot water” after a collision on Highway 290 during rainy conditions Friday afternoon. A Pontiac Sunfire was traveling west around 3:15pm in the 1100 block of Hwy. 290 when the driver left the roadway to the right and struck a guardrail leading to a bridge and the car traveled over the guardrail and down a hill into a creek.
The driver, an 18 year old female, was able to get out of the vehicle and was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries by Lifenet. The car was about half submerged and was removed from the water by Combs and Burks Wrecker Service.
Lake Hamilton Fire Department assisted on this incident. A State Highway Department employee came to inspect the guardrail, which had heavy damage to the supports and rail.
