Hot Springs Man Arrested On DWI Warrant

A Hot Springs man was arrested Thursday on a warrant for Driving While Intoxicated in reference to June 1 incident.

Officers arrested James Steven Ward, 59, of Hot Springs.

According to the Hot Springs Police Department, on June 1st,  Officer N. Williams was dispatched to the area of Leonard Street in reference to a vehicle driving all over the roadway. Dispatch advised that the vehicle also matched the description of a vehicle involved in a hit and run just minutes prior.

Upon turning west on emory Street, dispatch advised that the vehicle just turned east on Emory Street from Fleet Street. while turning west on Emory, the vehicle passed officer Williams. While traveling on Higdon Ferry, the vehicle continued driving left of center.

Officer Williams activated his blue lights but the vehicle continued driving left of center and finally stopped in the 200 block of Leonard Street.

Upon contact with the driver, James Ward, he advised Williams that he did not have a license and that he was drunk. Oficer Haynie was called to help perform a field sobriety text. While directions were being given, Ward stumbled and fell backwards into the street. Lifenet was called and transported Ward to Mercy Hospital after Ward hit his head.

The blood sample was 0.23
